What can you tell me about 'pre diabetes' ?
My glucose after fasting 10 hours is around 119 , no sugars, no starches...
What are the symptoms of pre diabetes?
So about 6 months ago, I hadn't eaten anything all day, and then I went and got my blood drawn.. well I have a true phobia of getting my blood drawn, I was perfectly fine once they got the needle in, but after I stood up and got dizzy.. I passed out and had a seizure. I have never had any seizure problems before. We just said it was from getting my blood pressure so high then calmed down soo quick. Well, a couple days following it I was at school in my last block of the day, and I was yawning so much, like a LOT. I thought eh, I'm just tired it's the end of the day. Well, I had to stay after and I was tracing something for my Geometry class, and I started shaking like crazy just so jittery my teacher told me to just go home.. well, I was walking down the stairs and I could barely do that I was shaking so much.. I tried texting my mom, but it looked like a drunk text I finally made it out to her car and we got chocolate and orange juice and got it back up.. ever since then I've been having these twitches, like jerks. It's usually only bad in the morning, before I have eaten. We are pretty sure I'm hypoglycemic.. but my dad's a type I diabetic, insulin dependent, baddd. Is there any possibilty these are pre diabetic syptoms? Oh, and sometimes I get soo... angry I guess? that's the best way to explain. like irrational anger. Not like bipolar, but just like I am out of my head?Oh and another thing, 2 weeks ago I had my wisdom teeth cut out, of course I had eaten the night before but I had maybe 1 bite of potatoes after the surgery.. but the next morning I started having these twitches but twice as bad, it was like over and over and over again. I didn't know what to do, my mom gave me hawian punch and they stopped..
So I've been getting yeast infections almost every month for a while now, is this a early sign of pre diabetes?
I also have some of the other symptoms as well

Do I have pre diabetes?

How long to lower blood sugar/pre diabetes?
I was told in November that I was considered pre diabetic but that she wasn't concerned, so I didn't think much of it. I've lost some weight and I'm drinking more water. I have a very important medical coming up on Tuesday enlisting in the military and I'm worried about the urine tests blood sugarsIs there any way over the next couple of days 6 to reduce my blood sugar levels and bring it to a healthy range?I think I'm just overthinking things but I'm very nervous because you can't join the military and be diabetic and I'm afraid that I won't pass my medical..Any help would be appreciated
I went to the doctors the other day and he said I have pre- diabetes what should I do?
Does it mean that I can't eat carbohydrates again? and he said I can either do a low carb or low gi diet. Which one is better?
What should I eat if I have pre-diabetes?
I read on some websites to lower your carb intake to control blood sugar, and others say lower your fat intake as it causes insulin resistance, and some say don't eat too much protein as it stresses your liver liver controls glucose levels . SO what the heck are you suppose to eat?
Blood test questions involving pre-diabetes?
So I took a fasting blood test for diabetes, and the results came out negative. My doctor only said that the sugar in my urine was a lot so they sent me to get a blood test. Turns out I don't have diabetes, but since my blood sugar is " slightly above average" , does it mean I have pre diabetes? My doctor didn't say anything about me having pre diabetes so I don't know. If I do have pre diabetes, what is the best way to reverse it? I do volleyball and I have P.E, not to mention I walk alot. So you could say I excersice regularly. I try to limit the sugar and carbs I eat, but I do eat a lot of carbs because of rice. Any tips?
Could I have pre-diabetes or PCOS?
I am 16 years old, have been overweight for most of my life when I was a kd I was just a tad chubby, but now I am rather significantly overweight and I've never really had regular periods started at 12 or 13 . I have dark patches on my knuckles, back of neck, knees and elbows. I always used to think my knees were just from scarring i skinned my knees a lot when I was little , but then I noticed the other ares. My hair was SUPER thick as a kid, but now it is thin and breaks easily with lots of split ends and I lose what seems to be an abnormally large amnt. So could it be pre diabetes? My mom and aunts are all diabetic. Or PCOS, because a lot of the symptoms seem to fit that. Or maybe hypothyroidism or something?
Do I really have pre-diabetes when I'm not overweight and no history in my family?
My A1C, or whatever it is, is 6.0 or 6.1. My general doctor has been testing me for the last year to see if diet and exercise can fix it. I went in because I was tired and cranky ALL the time. This is the only thing they found. So cutting out sugars, I lost 20 pounds. Now I'm 5 foot 11 inches and 142 pounds. The doctor even says I'm not overweight at all. I exercise 3 5 times a week. I have NO history of diabetes in my family. I know I need to go to a different dr. But does anyone else have any suggestions or ideas? I don't know what else I'm suppose to do to fix this besides eating nothing and loosing even more weight. Please help I've been tested 4 times in the last year. I started this whole process last year at this time. It's gone from 6.0 to 6.9, and now 6.1. The range for Pre diabetes has gone down since last summer to 5.9 or 6.0. I know I'm in the bottom, but it still bothers me that I'm there. I'm 36. But what would that have to do with what the dr told me? And I don't believe they thought too long about saying anything. I don't think they had gone over my blood work until I went into the office and they went over it with me.
I have pre-diabetes, probably because of my years of eating Taco Bell daily and not exercising enough?
I read in Prediabetes for Dummies that I can't have diet soda anymore. I'm wondering what it is that I can eat. Also, I'm thinking this pre diabetes is the cause of my fatigue and lethargy? What do I need to do to prevent more severe complications. I'm willing to cut out all sweets, but what can I eat?
Is it likely that I have developed type 2 diabetes after being diagnosed with pre-diabetes 3 years ago?
In January of 2008 I saw my doctor and got labs done, I was diagnosed with Pre Diabetes insulin resistance after my fasting blood glucose was taken. I had not done as the doctor told me to, changed my diet, exercise more, ect. But in this time, my weight can go anywhere from 220 pounds all the way down to 160 overnight so to speak.Recently in the past year or so , my vision has increasingly gotten worse it's blurry, and I wear glasses contacts, but even when I have them on, it gets hard to see , I've put on at least 50 pounds and I haven't seen my period since around November October of last year 2010 . Also, I have a hard time falling asleep waking up in the morning, I'm fatigued, and I have no energy. Moreover, in the past few weeks or so. I have this uncontrollable urge to urinate even after I've gone, and nothing or next to nothing comes out , also I have been increasingly tired, irritable, and I feel thirsty hungry all the time. But my question to you is, how are type two diabetes and pcos diagnosed? I'm going to my primary care physician tomorrow. How should I ask them about proceeding with diagnosing these things figuring out what's wrong. Any help will be appreciated
Does pre-diabetes always turn into type 2, or can it also turn into type 1?
I was diagnosed today with pre diabetes. I am incredibly grateful to have this chance to fix my life before I'm sentenced to diabetes for life, but I am also stressing out about it. I am 17 years old, 6'2, weigh 360lb not because I over eat, but because I take medication that severely inhibits my metabolism, causing rapid weight gain . As of tomorrow, I am stopping my medication it's for aspergers, and honestly I don't believe that it helps me cold turkey, and I've already done a 30 min exercise routine yesterday and today. My main fear with diabetes is diabetic retinopathy. My life is 100 % reliant on vision, and were I to lose it, I do not think I could continue on.I know that type 1 has a much higher chance of causing diabetic retinopathy, so I am still stressed, but I am wondering if prediabetes ever leads to type 1?My doctor told me that it's a precursor for type 2, and to stop worrying, so I come here to people who live and love with diabeetus to tell me the facts.I'd also appreciate some tips on managing my diet to avoid turning into a diabetic.Sorry if I offend any diabetics here, I have severe social problems and am completely unaware of it.
