Both of my grandfathers had diabetes, and both my parents are diabetic, so is it possible that I am diabetic too? If so, how do I get diabetes? It's not that I'm planning on getting diabetes, just asking how do I get them.
My dad's family has a history of diabetes; is this something I should be concerned about?
My dad's family is otherwise very healthy and NOT overweight, but I recently found out that both of my paternal grandpa's parents suffered from diabetes and my aunt dad's sister might have pre diabetes. My dad and his brother have no signs of it, though. What are the risks of me or my future kids developing diabetes if 2 of my great grandparents & potentially my aunt have it, and are there always high health risks with it? Thanks.

If there is a family history of diabetes in the family should you live like you already have it?
I don't have diabetes but my dad does and 3 of his sister do too. My mom says her grandmother had it. Ik a family history means a greater risk i don't know how much greater anyway should I diet like I already have diabetes? Or just do whT they say to prevent it?
Blood sugar 108, family history of diabetes.. What do you think.?
Hi all. Sorry to come here with another " could I have diabetes" question. I'm sure you're all tired of hearing them lol. I have scheduled a dr.'s appt just to make sure, but just wanted some opinions...I'm an 18 yr old girl, 5'5, 125 lbs. I don't exercise too much, but I don't eat much either. I just checked my blood sugar and now I'm very worried, it was 108. About a half an hour before I had eaten a few pieces of chocolate, so I am not sure if that would make it go up. Our family has a history of diabetes, but only on my fathers side. No issues on my mothers side. I do not have any symptoms of diabetes except being tired a lot, but that is because I stay up late a lot, lol. No thirstyness, and no frequent urination. Can someone explain to me what a " normal" blood sugar would be right after eating candy? Lol or would a normal persons body process it quickly and the sugar not go up? What is the normal fasting bloodsugar? im going to take it again in the morning Added to edit. I have no issues with cholesterol, 134 and then 133 last times it was checked. blood pressure normally low.editing thankyou for all of the answers.. i'd love anything else you guys could share with me. is there a test other than the fasting one?also, i do not drink coke or pepsi. water only, with occasionally some juice or tea. and coffee rarely
I have no family history of diabetes, but I got it while pregnant and still do. Anyone else have this Problem?
The doctors don't even know if it's type 1 or 2. Apparently I'm a mystery. I have since then had another child and the diabetes is stronger. I guess I just want to know if there is anyone out there who may have heard of this and their related story. I'm a new mom and the last thing I wanted was diabetes. I'm not even overweight. 130 lbs. Any response would be appreciated.

Family History of Diabetes?
My great Grandmother, my Grandfather, and my Mom all have or had diabetes so it seems to run in that side of my family. Now I'm concerned for my brother and I, what are the chances that we'll get it? My Dad's side of the family is totally clear of any diabetes, if that makes a difference, and my Mom's brother doesn't have it either.
