Help with glucometer..is it really accurate..Walgreens True Track..which is a better glucometer?
Okay I am 33 weeks pregnant and have gestational diabetes and have now been prescribed glyburide. I bought a Walgreens brand glucometer called True Track because the strips were the most reasonably priced. But I took my blood sugar the this morning 3 times consecutively to test the accuracy and the readings were 121, 109, 118. I was wondering if I should get a name brand for better accuracy...it is important I have an accurate one because I am pregnant. Any one have any suggestions or comments on glucometers. Thanks for any info.

My glucose fasting has been 100 107 lately and 2 hours after meals around 128 130 taken with my glucose meter. Are these normal readings? I bought one touch ultra 2 glucometer yesterday. on page 62 of the owners booklet, in the specifications , it was mentioned that Calibration plasma calibration.This is a little bit confusing. I know, the blood sample taken by us at home is a whole blood sample and the sample taken through veins by the lab is plasma blood.In the present question, what is this plasma calibration fo the meter? does this mean, the result obtained through glucometer at home is equal to lab result . s it so? or there is some difference? kindly anybody clarify. Can we follow the conversion charts obtained in the net to convert the whole blood result to plasma blood result?
