What can I do about high blood glucose and "unwanted" weight loss?
I have been taking my medication and have been having severe gastric side effects and have lost a significant amount of weight. I am 6' 4" and weigh 161lbs. I do not need to lose weight just keep it on.I take metformin and glipizide, I exercise as much as I can with no reduction in my blood glucose level.

FPG 126OGTT 86These were taken by glucometer during a class lab I'm a med student and I didn't have the nerve to ask the professor about it. The FPG was taken after about a 2 3 hour fast, I ate two cookies and took the " OGTT" about 20 minutes later I know not exactly a well controlled study . But what about that fasting glucose? 126, technically, meets one of the criteria for DM. At about 120 the incidence of retinopathy begins to skyrocket particularly in certain ethnicities . I am a lean male in my 20s with no past history of anything. What could explain the high glucose? And is that a risk factor for DM like complications vascular, renal, eyes even if it's NOT due to any DM type insulin resistance or deficiency?

I'm not diabetic as far as I know. Haven't been to the doc for a while. I have been feeling kinda crappy for a while and internet research pointed me to blood sugar craziness. Off to Walmart to buy a meter. Here's my day. Wake up 52. Had breakfast. Went to work. 10 00 51 ate a protein bar checked 5 mins later 61. Back to work. Lunch break at 1 00 53. Immediately following lunch of large fry and garden salad from bk 116. 30 mins after lunch 179. One hour after lunch 77. Two hours after lunch 71. Off work had some beef sticks on the way home. Just checked 90. I am pretty sure this means I'm still not diabetic... I'm curious about the morning number and why its so far below normal. I had some slurred speech this morning which makes me more concerned. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.

So I had some blood work done at the doctor the other day and the nurse told me my blood sugar was 'borderline high'. I asked her what it was and she said 101 mgs. This was about 3 hours after having 1 Tea with honey2 banana with oatmealIs this normal to be in this range 3 4 hours after food consumption? I have seen lots of reports of people still being at 120 mgs 5 hours after eating really sweet meals. And I never eat anything that's not naturally occurring sugar, like fruit etc. I stay away from processed and sugary junk. Anyway, they want me back for more blood testing to do a full 8 hour fasting test monday.
